TENURE-TRACK PROFESSOR IN DEVELOPMENTAL COGNITIVE SCIENCE

Harvard University

Faculty of Arts and Sciences

Department of Psychology

Cambridge, MA

The Department of Psychology seeks to appoint a tenure-track professor, to begin July 1, 2022. We seek candidates with expertise in developmental cognitive science, broadly conceived.

Our interest is less in specific topic areas or methods than in the innovation and excellence of the applicant’s research program. For instance, in addition to experimental behavioral research on human children, successful candidates might employ cognitive neuroscience, animal cognition, cross-cultural work (international or within the U.S.), or computational modeling, among other approaches. Topics of study might include: conceptual representation, social cognition, reasoning, decision-making, perception, action planning or language, among others. We seek candidates whose research complements research already going on in the Department, taking it in clearly new directions.

Candidates must have a strong doctoral record and have completed their Ph.D. Teaching duties will include offerings at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. A strong, demonstrated commitment to teaching and advising is desired. Candidates at all levels are encouraged to apply.

Instructions: To apply for this position, please submit the following materials through the ARIeS portal (https://academicpositions.harvard.edu/postings/10717). Candidates are encouraged to apply by November 1st 2021, applications will be reviewed until the position is filled.

1. Cover letter

2. Curriculum Vitae

3. Teaching/advising statement (describing teaching philosophy and practices)

4. Research statement

5. Statement describing efforts to encourage diversity, inclusion, and belonging, including past, current, and anticipated future contributions in these areas.

6. Names and contact information of 3-5 referees, who will be asked by a system-generated email to upload a letter of recommendation once the candidate’s application has been submitted. Three letters of recommendation are required, and the application is considered complete only when at least three letters have been received. At least one letter must come from someone who has not served as the candidate’s undergraduate, graduate, or postdoctoral advisor.

7. Copies of up to three representative publications
