[CogSci] Postdoctoral positions at ASU

The Department of Psychology at Arizona State University (JOB# 12911)
invites applications for *three Postdoctoral Research Scholar positions* in
the Science of Learning and Educational Technologies (SoLET) Laboratory
directed by Danielle McNamara. The postdoctoral research scholars will be
working on projects funded by the IES and ONR to (a) design and develop
tutoring modules and (b) explore factors influencing students’ performance
in comprehension, writing, and mathematics. The candidates will be involved
in studies with elementary, high school, and adult literacy students,
including teachers and schools across multiple sites in AZ, NH, MN, and GA.
The ideal candidates are interested in working in a collaborative research
lab, particularly one focusing on learning and cognitive sciences. There
are three positions available:



1.     Educational Technology Design: One postdoctoral research scholar
will focus on rigorously designing, developing, and testing new modules and
games within an existing tutoring system, iSTART. This candidate should
have experience in system design and usability assessment, including the
design of ITSs and/or games.



2.     School-based Research: One postdoctoral research scholar will focus
on working with teachers and students to conduct experimental studies. This
candidate should have past experience in implementing and testing
educational technologies in various educational settings with high
fidelity, including schools.



3.     NLP and Data Analytics: One postdoctoral research scholar will
conduct natural language processing (NLP) on various data sets including
essays and math tutoring interactions. This candidate should have expertise
in database management, R, Python, and statistical analysis methods.



The positions are full-time, benefits-eligible appointment with no tenure
implications. Anticipated start date is July 1, 2019.



The qualifications for these positions include: must have earned a Ph.D. in
learning sciences, educational psychology, computer science, data
analytics, human factors, or psychology, or in a related field within the
past four years.

Salary range is $50,004.00 to $54,756.00 depending on previous experience.
