The OPAM Team is excited to announce *Dr. Geoffrey Woodman* as the OPAM
2026 Keynote Speaker!

Dr. Woodman is the E. Bronson Ingram Chair of Neuroscience and Professor of
Psychology at Vanderbilt University, where he leads the Woodman Brain Lab
<https://www.geoffwoodman.com/>. He completed his PhD with Steven Luck and
Shaun Vecera at the University of Iowa before going to Vanderbilt for a
postdoc with Marvin Chun and Jeffrey Schall, where he has remained ever
since.

Dr. Woodman and his students research how the human and nonhuman primate
brain selectively processes and stores information. The lab takes a
multi-method approach, combining EEG, event-related potentials, single- and
multi-unit recordings, local field potentials, eye tracking, brain
stimulation, and computational modeling to understand how the brain
implements attentional filtering, storage in working and long-term memory,
and cognitive control. A central theme is the interplay between attention
and memory: how attentional templates are stored and retrieved, how working
and long-term memory cooperate to guide attentional selection, and how
brain stimulation can causally modulate these processes.

Dr. Woodman has a strong commitment to training the next generation of
scientists, dedicating considerable time and energy to the development of
researchers at all career stages, from undergraduates to postdoctoral
fellows.

Dr. Woodman is a member of the Vanderbilt Vision Research Center and serves
as Director of the VVRC Training Grant from the National Eye Institute. His
lab has also received funding from the National Institutes of Health and
the National Science Foundation. He has served as Associate Editor at the
Journal of Neuroscience and JEP:HPP.
