To whom it may concern,
I'm reaching out to request the inclusion of the Childhood and AI Lab and
the associated Research Fellowship program in your next member newsletter.
AI is rapidly reshaping how children learn, think, and relate to the world,
yet we lack the research infrastructure, safety standards, and governance
frameworks to ensure these changes strengthen rather than diminish human
capacities. The Childhood and AI Lab will fill this gap by uniting
researchers, policymakers, educators, and technologists around
evidence-based approaches to AI and child development.
The Fellowship brings together scholars across disciplines to study AI’s
effects on learning, attention, creativity, identity, and social
relationships in children and adolescents. Fellows will gain expertise,
visibility, collaboration opportunities, and pathways to translate research
into practice and policy. We hope we’ll also be able to provide stipends in
the near future. Participation is flexible but will require a minimum of
2–4 hours/month.
We are targeting:
- *Early-stage researchers* (who may be graduates of relevant masters’
programs or current/former Ph.D. students) interested in studying A’s
effects on children
- *Mid-career or senior researchers* with a field of research expertise
who are interested in exploring how that field, when integrated with AI,
will affect children
- *AI experts or researchers* interested in applying their technical
experience to understanding how the AI models or systems they are studying
will be used by children
- *Experienced researchers* who are already studying AI’s effects on
child development
The fellowship application will go live on November 5, 2025 at
www.childhoodandAIlab.org <http://www.childhoodandailab.org/>.
We kindly invite you to share this opportunity with your community.
Please reach out to fellowships at aichildsafety.org
