The MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston is now accepting applications for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program in Rehabilitation Sciences to begin in Fall 2026. This program fosters a unique interdisciplinary environment designed to train scientists to conduct impactful research in health and rehabilitation-related fields. We welcome applicants with backgrounds in fields related to health and/or rehabilitation, such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, and other disciplines, such as biomedical engineering, who wish to pursue advanced interprofessional research training.
About the Program
The PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences program prepares graduates for careers as researchers, educators, and leaders in health and rehabilitation science. Students will have the opportunity to work in a 1:1 mentorship model alongside experienced faculty, engage in groundbreaking research, and contribute to evidence-based practices that improve care and health for children and adults.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Collaborate with faculty across various departments and engage in multi-disciplinary research teams.

Funding Opportunities: Accepted PhD RS students receive full tuition scholarship for IHP courses for the first 4 years of enrollment. Additionally, competitive funding packages, including research fellowships, are available to qualified applicants.
Professional Development: Participate in seminars and courses designed to foster skills in research methodology, teaching, and scholarly communication.

Application Deadline
The early application deadline to apply is November 18, 2025. Early submission is encouraged as application review will begin in December. Applications submitted after the early application deadline will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
