PhD Positions – Fall 2026 (Coupled Minds Lab @ Texas A&M University)

The Coupled Minds Lab (PI: Sebastian Speer) is recruiting PhD students for Fall 2026.

Our lab investigates how social interactions shape connection, consensus, and conflict. We use a multimodal approach — fMRI & EEG hyperscanning, computational modeling, and natural language processing — to study how conversations actively transform minds.

We aim to answer questions such as:

  *   How do minds wander in new directions during conversation?
  *   How do people negotiate meaning and compromise when their paths diverge?
  *   And what happens when one of those minds belongs to a machine?
