Reminder: NECD 2026 – studying children “in the wild” (19–20 February 2026, London)

There are still a few places available for the 3rd NECD Workshop, hosted by Birkbeck, University of London , in partnership with the European COST network on real-world environments.

NECD 2026 focuses on naturalistic developmental science—studying infants’ and children’s behaviour in real-world settings, using rich, multimodal data and cutting-edge tools.

This year’s programme includes:

  * Naturalistic experimentation in infants and children

  *   Neurodiversity session

  * Policy and practice: how real-world data inform education, clinical work, and decision-making

  * New analytic toolkits for modelling complex, longitudinal and multimodal data

  * Talks, posters and flash presentations

We particularly encourage applications from students and early-career researchers from underrepresented groups or disadvantaged backgrounds. Several travel awards are available, covering travel to London, one night’s accommodation, and sustenance during the workshop.

  *   🗓 Workshop dates: 19–20 February 2026

  * 📍 Location: Birkbeck, University of London (Bloomsbury, London)

  *   ⏰ Application deadline: 22 December 2025

With best wishes,
