Post-doctoral positions on LLM /NLP for Computational Social Science & Judgement across Culture

University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
Start Date: Winter 2025 (flexible)
Duration: 1 year (with strong possibility of renewal)
Salary: $62,000 per annum (negotiable)

The newly established Wise Judgment Consortium<https://wiseminds.uwaterloo.ca> and the University of Waterloo invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow to join a research project on judgment and wisdom across cultures, supervised by Dr. Igor Grossmann and Sam Johnson and in collaboration with a multinational group of scholars from leading universities across the globe.

The Position
This interdisciplinary project integrates computational social science, psychology, linguistics, and cultural studies to explore cultural influences on decision-making. The successful candidate will work with Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques and psychometric tools to analyze how people from various cultural backgrounds approach complex life challenges. The aim is to build culturally grounded decision-making models that reflect the diversity of real-world scenarios.

Your Profile
We are looking for candidates who have:

  *   A PhD in psychology, computer science, linguistics, or a related computational discipline.
  *   Experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP) and computational methods.
  *   A passion for interdisciplinary research and a keen interest in understanding cultural dimensions of decision-making.
