[CogSci] Paths to a PhD - Invitation to Apply

Interested in pursuing a PhD in Psychology? Join Stanford psychology graduate students, research staff, and faculty for Paths to PhD, a FREE one-day information session and workshop for those considering applying to research positions and PhD programs in psychology.


Paths to a Psychology PhD - both the information session and the workshop - is open to people from all backgrounds. We strongly encourage applications from candidates from underrepresented groups, including but not limited to, women, people of color, first-generation college students, and those from low-income backgrounds. Interested applicants from any institution or organization are invited to apply!


What: Paths to PhD will consist of a series of information sessions and small group workshops.

Information sessions will include:

  *   Why a PhD in psychology?

  *   How to choose a program

  *   Navigating the admissions process

  *   Crafting a compelling application


In small group or one-on-one workshops, participants will be paired with current graduate students and research staff to discuss and strategize their application plans for graduate school or research staff positions, and/or to workshop any application materials.


Due to staffing constraints for the workshop part of the event, only some participants will be selected to attend the workshop part of the event.


When: Paths to PhD Info Session will be held online on Saturday, October 21st from 10am to 5pm Pacific Time. Workshops will be held in the weeks before and after the info session.


Interested applicants should complete the short application form<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSed4XwDhDq3hlw_bMXe29dPPOvFs91lTEchvzJDp-HTz4UIWQ/viewform> by Friday, September 22nd at 11:59pm Pacific Time. This application is meant to be short, informal, and informative for us to match you if you are invited for the workshop.


Applicants will be notified of their status by Friday, October 6th, 2023.
