The Center for Adaptive Rationality takes an interdisciplinary approach to cognitive science and decision-making. The successful candidate will work on crowd-sourcing open-ended medical diagnostics using insights and methods from cognitive science and collective and artificial intelligence and will develop, deploy and empirically evaluate online tools for harnessing hybrid collective intelligence in this domain. To this end, we will collaborate with the human crowd-sourcing platform, the Human Diagnosis Project (Human Dx). This project is embedded in the Horizon Project “Hybrid Human Artificial Collective Intelligence in Open-Ended Decision Making” (HACID). Collaborating partners include CNR Italy, NESTA UK, Met Office METO UK and Human Dx.

Applicants should have an interest in cognitive science, collective intelligence, data science, open science/data, and medical diagnostics. A PhD degree (or equivalent) in cognitive psychology, cognitive science, or another data-focused science (e.g., computational linguistics, digital humanities, human-computer interaction, or information science) is required.

The position is available from November 2022 onwards, but later start dates are possible. The position is for three years. There are no teaching obligations associated with the position.
