Dear Colleagues,
Please share this with prospective students who are interested in pursuing a PhD in Educational Psychology:
Would you like to know all about learning, development, and instruction, while also acquiring strong quantitative skills and applying both sets of expertise to the most challenging educational problems we face as a society? If so, please think about doing your doctoral studies in the Educational Psychology Ph.D. Program at the City University of New York (CUNY) Graduate Center (GC). Prospective students apply to either of the program’s two specialization areas - Learning, Development, and Instruction (LDI) and Quantitative Methods in Educational and Psychological Research (Statistics, Measurement, Evaluation, and Policy Analysis). However, the program is unique in cross-training doctoral students in both specializations. The program has a strong research focus and engages students in research through a supportive mentoring apprenticeship model. The GC is situated in the heart of Manhattan and within the CUNY system, the nation’s leading urban public university. Our doctoral students have access to faculty around the system, gain teaching experience within the system, and can use the system itself as a site for research. The Graduate Center is also part of an inter-university consortium allowing doctoral students to take courses at other leading universities in the larger tri-state area.
