The Department of Human Development, Family Studies, & Counseling (HDFSC) at Texas Woman's University invites applications for an Assistant Clinical Professor in Child Development. The position is expected to begin Fall 2022.



The Department of HDFSC houses programs in Child Development, Child Life, Family Studies, Marriage & Family Therapy, and Counseling & Development. We have three programs in Child Development: A bachelor's degree in Child Development with track options in Child Life, Pre-Occupational Therapy, and Pre-Physical Therapy; a master's degree in Child Development; and a Ph.D. in Child Development and Early Education.



UNIVERSITY INFORMATION



Texas Woman's University occupies a notable position in higher education as the nation's largest university primarily for women. Established in 1901, TWU is a doctoral/research-intensive public university which emphasizes the liberal arts and sciences as well as specialized and professional studies in business, nursing, health sciences, and education. THE POSITION



The primary responsibilities of the Assistant Clinical Professor in Child Development will be to teach foundational courses in Child Development at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, coordinate the undergraduate practicum and field experiences, participate in university and community service, and support the university's commitment to thrive as a Hispanic Serving Institution and a model for student success. The position is a full-time, 9-month clinical track (non-tenure track) appointment.



Required Qualifications:

  *   Ph.D. in Child Development or closely related field
  *   Evidence of successful teaching experience
  *   Experience working with children and families
  *   Experience supervising students in practicum or internship
  *   Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  *   Documented evidence of working with culturally diverse populations
  *   Willingness to engage in community/university partnerships



Preferred Qualifications:

  *   Demonstrated experience teaching, mentoring, and advising historically underrepresented students, including students of color, and being sensitive to their educational needs
  *   Documented evidence of working with children and families from diverse cultural backgrounds
  *   Demonstrated service contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion
