BrainsCAN Postdoctoral Fellowship Competition 2020


Western University, home to a large cluster of world-renowned neuroscience researchers, is looking to bring the world’s most promising young cognitive neuroscientists to an outstanding research environment with unparalleled infrastructure. BrainsCAN is a 7-year, $66 million initiative funded by the Government of Canada, that is enabling researchers at the University, along with its national and international academic and commercial partners, to understand and significantly reduce the impact of cognitive disorders across the lifespan.



BrainsCAN is committed to improving representation of marginalized groups in neuroscience through the implementation of best practices of equity and inclusion. We are inviting applications from outstanding neuroscientists who identify with an underrepresented group (including Black, Indigenous, LGBTQ2S+, people with disabilities, and women) for 10 available postdoctoral positions. Applicants will have the opportunity to work with our talented cognitive neuroscientists, and should contact potential advisors based on their research interests before submitting their application.



The Postdoctoral Fellow program offers highly competitive compensation packages with independent research allowances, a brand-new state-of-the-art facility, and opportunities to work with highly esteemed researchers across multiple disciplines. Postdoctoral Fellows will have access to BrainsCAN-supported core facilities for neuroimaging; for studying human cognition, behaviour and sensorimotor control; for development and use of computational methods; and for establishing and exploring rodent and nonhuman primate models of cognition and behaviour. Skilled staff within these cores support state-of-the-art technical equipment including research-only MRI systems (3T, 7T, and 9.4T), laboratories for cognitive, behavioural, and electrophysiological testing in humans and animal models, advanced molecular techniques, a sleep laboratory, and access to a variety of neurological patient populations in affiliated teaching hospitals.



Already ranked amongst the best in the world in cognitive neuroscience and neuroimaging, Western researchers employ cognitive, computational, clinical, and translational approaches to understand and intervene in brain function.
