hiring a new individual to fill this position. This position is ideal for
an individual who would like to gain additional research experience before

The Purdue University Language Learning and Meaning Acquisition (LLAMA) lab
is hiring a full-time lab manager to start in Summer 2020.  The lab manager
will work closely with Dr. Borovsky on a number of projects that explore
how young children learn words and process language.


*Position summary:*

The Laboratory Coordinator will assist in research and general lab duties
in the Purdue Language Learning and Meaning Acquisition (LLaMA)
laboratory.  The position will be based in the Speech, Language and Hearing
Sciences Department at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.


*Training potential:*

Dr. Borovsky is deeply committed to the further development of the
candidate’s research skills and potential, and prior laboratory managers
and students in her lab have an excellent track record of gaining entry
into graduate programs in a variety of fields. The successful candidate
will meet regularly with Dr. Borovsky to discuss career objectives, and
will be encouraged to enhance their training by participating in the
broader scholarly community and other professional development
activities. These
activities include the potential to make leading contribution to conference
and scholarly works and develop an individual research project.  The
research assistant will join a collegial community of researchers who study
language development and disorders, and will have the opportunity to
interact with other faculty, graduate students, research associates, and
speech-language pathologists.


*Required:*

   - Bachelor's degree
   - Experience in a lab environment
   - Demonstrated interest in language development research
   - Ability to work independently and in a team environment
   - Strong time management skills and the ability to organize priorities
   among multiple tasks
   - Strong verbal and written communication skills
   - Meticulous attention to detail
   - Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
   - Ability to support occasional needs within the community and at the
   community laboratory in Indianapolis

*Preferred:*

   - Bachelor's degree in communication disorders, cognitive science,
   psychology, linguistics or another closely related field
   - Experience with eye-tracking and/or ERP methods
   - Scripting / programming experience (ideally in R / Matlab / Python or
   similar)
   - Ability to create and edit multiple audio, video and image file formats
   - Experience with statistical analysis

*Major responsibilities are to:*

   - train and coordinate a team of undergraduate level research assistants
   - support protocol development and data collection in language learning
   experiments using a variety of methods including standardized assessments,
   surveys, behavioral coding, eye-tracking, event-related potentials, and
   computational modeling
   - manage data and analysis
   - coordinate and schedule laboratory testing and resources
   - maintain equipment, lab spaces, participant registry, and
   Institutional Review Board (IRB) records
   - support occasional needs outside of the laboratory (typically once per
   month) at our community laboratory in Indianapolis and through community
   recruitment and outreach activities in the greater Lafayette area
