The MS in Experimental Psychology offered by Seton Hall University is a unique PhD preparatory experience. We are currently accepting applications. At this time of year, seniors are contemplating their post-graduation plans. Some are trying to decide whether an advanced degree is right for them. Some are hearing of rejections from Ph.D. programs. The M.S. degree in Experimental Psychology may be a desirable option for these students.

Please consider sharing the attached information on our program with your students. Additionally, you may direct students to our program website<http://www.shu.edu/go/psychology>. Or, better yet, please encourage them to attend Seton Hall's Graduate Open House<https://www.shu.edu/graduate-affairs/open-house.cfm> on February 22 or visit our booth at EPA in Boston in March.

MORE INFORMATION ABOUT OUR PROGRAM
The M.S. in Experimental Psychology at Seton Hall serves students who need extra preparation to gain admittance into a Ph.D. program. In this research-intensive program students begin working with a faculty member by the end of their first semester, develop a thesis proposal in their second semester, and collect data and defend their thesis by the end of the second year. Our students present their research at regional and national conferences (e.g., Eastern Psychological Association, Society for Neuroscience, Psychonomic Society, Association for Psychological Science) and frequently co-author publications with faculty. Students have the opportunity to work with faculty experts in developmental, cognitive, social, and clinical psychology, as well as in behavioral neuroscience. Furthermore, students have the opportunity to gain research experience with our affiliated faculty at the Stress and Motivated Behavior Institute of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ (the New Jersey Medical School) in Newark, NJ and the Stroke Laboratory at Kessler Foundation Research Center in West Orange, NJ.

Attesting to the success of the program, recent graduates have been admitted to Ph.D. programs in Integrative Neuroscience, Behavioral Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Perception and Cognition, Social Psychology, and Communication at schools such as Brandeis University, the University of Florida, Northwestern, SUNY Stonybrook, Rutgers University, the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, New York University, American University, University of California (Davis), University of California (Los Angeles), Ohio State University and the University of Connecticut. Other recent graduates have used their M.S. degree to pursue research positions in the pharmaceutical industry and to teach at the community college level.

In addition to a thesis-track option, we also offer a non-thesis track for students not intending to pursue the Ph.D., but who want to go on in research intensive fields. Regardless of whether students are pursuing the thesis option, they can also avail themselves of the opportunity to complete a specialist certificate in Data Visualization and Analysis<http://www.shu.edu/academics/artsci/certificate-data-visualization-graduate.cfm>.

Please consider forwarding our program information to your undergraduates or posting the first page of this attachment in an area frequented by your undergraduates. To receive maximal consideration for graduate assistantships and scholarships students should complete their applications before April 15. Space permitting, applications will continue to be evaluated on a rolling basis up to July 1.

Should you or your students have any questions regarding the program, please don't hesitate to contact our Director of Graduate Studies, Dr. Amy Joh (amy.joh at shu.edu<mailto:amy.joh at shu.edu> or 973-275-2709).
