Tenure-track assistant/associate professorship in Computational Cognitive Modelling and Natural Language Processing

The Department of Nordic Studies and Linguistics, Faculty of Humanities, University of Copenhagen (UCPH), Denmark, invites applications for a tenure-track assistant/associate professorship in computational cognitive modelling and natural language processing to be filled by December 1st, 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The successful candidate will be attached to the Centre for Language Technology (CST), which is one of the research centres of the department. CST conducts research in different areas of language technology, such as natural language processing (NLP), language technology resources and the infrastructure around them, multimodal communication, computational cognitive modelling, and digital humanities. The Centre has a strong international profile, at the same time as pursuing the development of language technology methods and resources for the Danish language. CST has considerable experience managing international research projects, frequently attracts visiting researchers and has organised major conferences in the field. Together with the Department of Computer Science of the University of Copenhagen, it offers an international MSc programme in IT and Cognition. The programme, which currently admits about 30 students a year, consists of a range of courses in the areas of Natural Language Processing and Cognitive Science.

Job content
The successful candidate will engage in cutting-edge research in computational cognitive modelling in collaboration with the CST researchers and is expected to contribute actively to the Centre’s research environment (see also http://cst.ku.dk/english/forskning/).

The candidate will also be expected to strengthen the Centre’s project portfolio by applying for external funding, in particular to support projects at the interface between computational cognitive modelling and NLP.

The candidate will also contribute with teaching to the MSc in IT and Cognition. More specifically, s/he is expected to contribute to the Cognitive Science courses. More detail on the programme as a whole and the individual study units are provided at http://studies.ku.dk/masters/it-and-cognition/.

Qualifications required
It is an essential requirement that the candidate has expertise in machine learning/deep learning techniques and with the use of neurocognitive methods such as eye-tracking or EEG. It is an additional asset if the candidate has experience with cognitive and computational modelling of language phenomena.
