The research platform Data Science @ Uni Vienna is currently promoting 
three new master programmes in Business Analytics, Data Science and 
Digital Humanities starting winter term 2020/21 - a joint venture of the 
faculties Business, Economics and Statistics, Computer Science, 
Mathematics, Historical and Cultural as well as Philological and 
Cultural Studies.

Admission in Business Analytics and Data Science for the Academic Year 
2020/21 is open now until April 30, 2020. For Digital Humanities there 
will be no admission procedure, applications can be submitted as early

Three Master programmes in Business Analytics, Data Science, and Digital 
Humanities at the University of Vienna starting winter term 2020/21

The digital transformation of our society demands the computational 
handling of large amounts of data, a solid mathematical and statistical 
foundation, as well as legal and ethical considerations. The University 
of Vienna provides the breadth and excellence to tackle these aspects 
and is offering three unique Master programmes in Business Analytics, 
Data Science, and Digital Humanities to cover a diverse and 
interdisciplinary competence profile in the respective area of 
application.

All three programmes are designed to allow interaction and collaboration 
between students and researchers by sharing a common curriculum for 
almost a full semester worth of credits. They are a joint venture of the 
faculties of Business, Economics and Statistics, Computer Science, 
Historical and Cultural Studies, Mathematics, and Philological and 
Cultural Studies.

All three programmes will share a common curricular for almost a full 
semester worth of credit points and specialized courses will be held 
separately. Classes in Business Analytics and Data Science are held in 
English, classes in Digital Humanities include German lessons, too. All 
Master programmes last four semesters and include Doing Data Science, 
Data Ethics and Legal Issues, Data Science Project, Research Seminar, 
Master Thesis, Master Tutorial, and Defensio.

Admission in Business Analytics and Data Science for the Academic Year 
2020/21 is open now until April 30, 2020. For Digital Humanities there

MASTER BUSINESS ANALYTICS

The aim of the Master's programme in Business Analytics is to 
familiarize students with the methods and instruments of predictive and 
prescriptive analytics required for business analyses and decision 
support. The courses of this program will be about how to solve and 
interpret business decision problems using extensive data sets and to 
derive recommendations of action. The field of Business Analytics 
requires a high degree of analytical thinking. The Master's programme 
will provide you with a deeper insight into the theoretical and 
practical concepts of statistics, operations research, data science, and 
the design of information systems. The expected topics during your 
studies include Foundations of Business Analytics, Advanced Analytics, 
Business Administration, and Business Analytics Electives.
MASTER DATA SCIENCE

The aim of the Master's programme in Data Science is to provide a 
practically oriented and scientifically sound education in the field of 
modern data science. The courses will teach you innovative methods in 
data processing, which you can apply in all areas of sciences and 
economy. The Data Science Master at the University of Vienna includes 
the teaching of all core skills from development of efficient algorithms 
as well as understanding the interpretability, overreliability of the 
results, to asking ethical and legal questions. The expected topics 
during your studies include Machine Learning, Mathematical and 
Statistical Foundations, Optimization Methods, Mining Massive Data, and 
Visual and Exploratory Data Science.
MASTER DIGITAL HUMANITIES

The aim of the Master's programme in Digital Humanities is to train 
students who will make a significant contribution to the promotion, 
anchoring, and critical reflection of computer-based methods in 
humanistic research.  After learning how to digitally process and 
evaluate texts, images and other discipline related data, the courses 
will teach you how to make sense of the thereby gained data to create 
new interdisciplinary content. The expected topics during your studies 
include Digital Humanities, Theory and Practice of Digital Humanities, 
and Specialization in Clusters of Digital Humanities.
