*Cognitive Neuroscience of Word Learning with Sensory Impairment *

*(Postdoctoral Position) *

Bergelson Lab & Woldorff Lab, Center for Cognitive Neuroscience, Duke
University

We are currently accepting applications for a postdoctoral position as part
of a larger study on language development. In particular, this work will
focus on the neural and cognitive underpinnings of word learning in infants
who are blind, or who are deaf and have cochlear implants, alongside
typically-developing infants. These studies will employ ERPs to look at the
timing and brain activations involved in the processing of semantic and
phonetic aspects of early words, as a function of age and sensory
experience, thereby enhancing our understanding of the underlying
mechanisms.

*Desirable candidates will have a background in language and/or cognitive
research, expertise in ERP methods with a young child population, and
strong programming and analysis skills*.

This co-mentored position offers excellent opportunities for gaining
extensive expertise in developmental and cognitive psychology, language
science, and cognitive neuroscience.

For additional information, contact Dr. Bergelson at
elika.bergelson at duke.edu or Dr. Woldorff at woldorff at duke.edu. To apply,
please email a cover letter, a CV, and contact information for three
potential references to: elika.bergelson at duke.edu, with the title
"Bergelson/Woldorff Postdoc Applicant." Applicants will be considered on a
rolling basis beginning April 15th; the preferred start date is early
summer 2019.

*N.B. Members of the Woldorff and Bergelson lab will be at CNS and SRCD,
and available to chat with prospective applicants. *
