Summer Research Opportunity for undergraduates at the UPenn Child Language Lab


Dr. Kathryn Schuler is seeking undergraduate students for a paid summer research opportunity at the Child Language Lab<http://childlanglab.com> at the University of Pennsylvania. Students will have the opportunity to work on research projects related to how children learn language, with emphasis on how they learn rules and make generalizations.


Responsibilities: Summer research assistants will be supervised by and work closely with Dr. Schuler creating stimuli for experiments, contacting families and adult participants, testing child and adult participants in research studies, and organizing and analyzing data.


Hours and compensation: 30 hours/week from June 10th through August 23rd, 2019. A commitment of at least 8 weeks in that window is required. Compensation is $330 per week.  Start date is flexible between June 10 and July 1, 2019.


Qualifications:

  *   Majoring in psychology, cognitive science, linguistics, or a related field

  *   Demonstrated interest in language acquisition and cognitive development

  *   Hardworking, resourceful, with attention to detail and willingness to take initiative

  *   Experience working with babies and children in a research setting or other formal context (e.g. nanny, camp counselor, etc.)

  *   Strong oral and written communication skills
