1. *NIH Behavioral and Social Sciences Research Festival*: Please join
the NIH Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research (OBSSR) and
the NIH Behavioral and Social Sciences Research Coordinating Committee
for the “NIH Behavioral and Social Sciences Research Festival:
Connecting People to Advance Health,” on Friday, December 8, 2017 at

annual festival brings together behavioral and social scientists within
the NIH extramural and intramural communities to network and collaborate

2. *APA Fellowships:* The American Psychological Association invites
applications for the 2018 - 2019 Congressional Fellowships and Executive
Branch Science Fellowship. *The APA Congressional Fellowship Program*
<http://www.apa.org/about/awards/congress-fellow.aspx>**offers two
psychologists the unique opportunity to spend a year on Capitol Hill
working as special legislative assistants in a U.S. House or Senate
office. The Congressional Fellows bring their psychological expertise to
bear on a diverse range of policymaking activities, such as drafting
legislation, writing speeches, meeting with constituents and outside
groups, and conducting background research. One Congressional Fellowship
position is open to all psychologists. Through funding from the
American Psychological Foundation <http://www.apa.org/apf/>, the
other position <http://www.apa.org/about/awards/goldman-fellow.aspx> is
available only to psychologists with a background in developmental or
clinical psychology and experience working directly with children.
*The APA Executive Branch Science Fellowship*
<http://www.apa.org/about/awards/science-fellowship.aspx> is an
incredible opportunity for a psychological scientist to work as a
special assistant in a federal agency on issues ranging from science
policy to research administration. Each fellow's year-long placement is
tailored to the individual fellow's interest and expertise. Past
placements have included the National Institutes of Health, National
Science Foundation, Department of Justice, and U.S. Agency for
International Development. Our current APA Executive Branch Science
Fellow is placed at the Department of Education, Institute of Education

3. *NSF EHR Director Search:* The National Science Foundation (NSF) is
initiating a national search for the Assistant Director for Education
and Human Resources (EHR). We seek your assistance in the identification
of visionary candidates to lead the Directorate during the coming years.
The next Assistant Director will have similar opportunities to shape the
future of STEM education and workforce development as well ensure that
EHR is a key participant across the Foundation’s science and engineering
portfolio.
The Assistant Director, EHR, manages a budget of over $870 million in
fiscal year 2017, and a portfolio across four divisions: Graduate
Education; Undergraduate Education; Research on Learning in Formal and
Informal Settings; and Human Resource Development. Enclosed is an
information sheet that summarizes the Directorate's activities and the
responsibilities of the position, together with the criteria that will
be used in the search. Employment may be on a temporary or permanent
basis in the Federal Service or by temporary assignment under provisions
of the Intergovernmental Personnel Act.
Dr. Anneila Sargent, a member of the National Science Board, as well as
Professor and Vice President for Student Affairs at the California
Institute of Technology, will head the search advisory committee.
Recommendations of individuals from any sector – academic, industry or
