abstracts<font color="#222222"><font face="Arial, serif"><span style="background:rgb(255,255,255)">, </li><li>workshops and</li><li>tutorials.</li></ul>ALIFE 2023 will take place in Sapporo, Japan, July 24 - 28th, 2023, and will be a hybrid conference: primarily focused on-site, at Hokkaido University, while also allowing for online participation. The conference theme is “Ghosts in the Machine”.

 Traditionally, Artificial Life research has sought to uncover the 

mysteries of life and the mind, that is, to naturalise the “ghosts in 

the machine”: What is life? What is the mind? At ALIFE 2023, we would 

like to bring back the focus on the integration of philosophy of mind 

with theoretical, computational and empirical works in science and
