Dear Colleagues,<o:p class=""></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal">A postdoctoral research position is
available in the lab of Dr. Elise Piazza (<a href="http://www.elisepiazza.com/" class="">www.elisepiazza.com</a>) at the University of Rochester to
investigate neural and theoretical underpinnings of human communication, with a
focus on the perception/production of speech and music in naturalistic
environments. The position is available starting fall 2020 for two years, with
possibility of renewal. <o:p class=""></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal">Candidates are expected to have a
doctoral degree in neuroscience, psychology, hearing sciences, or a related
field, strong quantitative skills, and a good publication record. We are
seeking candidates with prior experience in neuroimaging (especially fMRI) and
in applying advanced analysis methods to high-dimensional data. The candidate
will have access to state-of-the-art brain imaging (MRI, NIRS, EEG) and
computing facilities.<o:p class=""></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="background-color: white; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial;" class="">Dr. Elise Piazza’s
research focuses on the cognitive and neural mechanisms of human auditory
perception and communication across the lifespan, including how musicians
coordinate during performance, how musical training impacts the hierarchical
organization of sounds in the brain, and how listeners compute summary statistics
(or concise “gist” representations) of complex sounds.</span><o:p class=""></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal">The Piazza Lab (<a href="http://www.elisepiazza.com/" class="">www.elisepiazza.com</a>) in the Brain & Cognitive Sciences program has strong collaborative ties to the
