Development Lab invites applications for a position of a</span></span><span class="gmail-m_-8437459286758069749m_-3510033654102218276gmail-gmaildefault"><span style="font-size:13pt;line-height:105%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"> PhD student in Language Acquisition. The
Language Development Lab </span></span><span style="font-size:13pt;line-height:105%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">investigates how humans
understand, produce, and learn language. Our work focuses on two broad themes<span class="gmail_default" style="font-size:large">:</span>
the learning of the meaning of words<span class="gmail_default" style="font-size:large">,</span> and learning how elements are structured
in a lan<span class="gmail-m_-8437459286758069749m_-3510033654102218276gmail-gmaildefault"></span>guage. Our studies simulate how
children discover the structure of their language when properties of the
language can be controlled. Much of our work involves behavioral studies with
children and adults using behavioral measures, such as eye-tracking. This work
is highly interdisciplinary and makes direct ties to work done in Psychology,
Linguistics, and Computer Science.<span></span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:105%;margin:0in 0in 8pt;font-size:11pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><span style="font-size:13pt;line-height:105%;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Ph.D. students will be
fully funded through the department with Research and Teaching Assistantships.
