Dear all,

We are offering a fully funded PhD position (TV-L E13 65%, three years) on
Body Memory Modulation Networks in Aging at the Hertie Institute
for Clinical Brain Research (HIH), University of Tübingen, Germany.

*Start date: *01/06/2026 at earliest

*Application deadline: **15.04.2026*

Interested candidates are invited to send an application with their CV, a
brief description of future research interests together with a list of 2
potential referees via online portal:

https://jobs.medizin.uni-tuebingen.de/Job/7370/PhD-Position-on-Body-Memory-Modulation-Networks-in-Aging

*Position description:*
The successful candidate will focus on investigating age-related changes in
the neural mechanisms underlying tactile memory modulation and how the
reorganisation of neural networks caused by aversive bodily memories evolve
during the aging process, using high-field fMRI, behavioural-psychophysical
measures, and whole-body haptic and motion tracking suits. This position
will contribute to understanding the age effect on tactile memory network
and how age-related changes intensify the reorganization of neural networks
in response to long-lasting aversive memories. The position will be funded
by a Hertie Network of Excellence in Clinical Neuroscience Fellowship
awarded to Dr. Peng Liu, and will be hosted at the Translational Imaging of
Cortical Microstructure Research Group led by Prof. Dr. Esther Kuehn. The
successful applicant will be supervised by Dr. Liu while being fully
integrated into Prof. Kuehn’s research group.

*Your profile:*

   - Excellent MSc Degree in Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience or a
   related field
   - Experience with programming and fMRI data analyses
   - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
   - Team spirit and collaborative mindset
   - Excellent English communication and writing skills

*We offer:*

   - Internationally top-ranked research environment in basic and clinical
   neuroscience
   - Integration into Graduated Training Centre of Neuroscience (GTC)
   - Support in MRI analyses techniques including computational modelling
   and machine learning
   - No teaching obligations
   - Access to 3T MRI scanning supported by the Core Facility dedicated to
research, treatment, and teaching focused on MRI, and a full-body virtual
   haptics lab
   - Possibility to present research results at international conferences
   - Active collaborations to the German Center for Neurodegenerative
Diseases (DZNE) and the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics
   (KYB) Tübingen
