We are currently looking to fill two fully funded 3-year postdoctoral positions at the Human and Machine Cognition Lab (hmc-lab.com<https://hmc-lab.com/>), led by Prof. Charley Wu at TU Darmstadt, Germany. The HMC Lab works at the intersection of human cognitive science and machine learning, using behavioral experiments, computational modeling, and interdisciplinary methods to understand how people learn, generalize, and use social information. Both positions will also be embedded in The Adaptive Mind<https://theadaptivemind-excellencecluster.de/> excellence cluster offering a highly collaborative environment with strong international visibility and extensive opportunities for interdisciplinary exchange.

Human Category Learning Postdoc

This position focuses on human category learning and generalization from the perspective of program induction. The successful applicant will investigate how humans form structured, compositional representations that support rapid learning and flexible generalization, combining behavioral experiments with computational and probabilistic modeling. This position is co-advised by Prof. Tom Wallis <https://www.psychologie.tu-darmstadt.de/perception/home_per/people_per/people_perception_detail_51328.en.jsp> and Prof. Frank Jäkel<https://www.psychologie.tu-darmstadt.de/institut_psy/personen_psy/personen_psy_detail_51392.de.jsp>.

Social Learning & Cultural Evolution Postdoc

This position focuses on social learning and cultural evolution, with an emphasis on designing and implementing multiplayer online experiments and/or immersive, in-person laboratory experiments to study how social information spreads and evolves. The position is co-advised by Prof. Dominik Deffner<https://www.uni-marburg.de/en/fb04/team-deffner/deffner> at the University of Marburg, but will be based at TU Darmstadt.
