The Biofeedback Intervention Technology for Speech Lab at NYU (BITS Lab
<https://wp.nyu.edu/byunlab/>; PI: Tara McAllister) is seeking a full-time
postdoctoral researcher to contribute to a new project developing and
testing real-time acoustic biofeedback for sibilant distortions in
adolescents with severe jaw misalignment (dentofacial disharmony). The lab
works at the intersection of experimental phonetics and speech pathology,
with a focus on how technology can accelerate the acquisition of new speech
skills.

We welcome applicants from two directions. Candidates with a research
background in acoustic phonetics or speech-language pathology will find
natural entry points in the study's clinical research arm. Candidates with
expertise in digital signal processing, audio and acoustics, or machine
learning are also encouraged to apply and would contribute to the lab's
software development program in collaboration with NYU's Music and Audio
Research Lab; such candidates should have demonstrated experience working
with speech data. Candidates whose background bridges both areas are
especially welcome.

The position will begin in summer or fall 2026. The initial appointment
will be for one year, with possible renewal for an additional year. In
compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range
for this position is $65,000 - $70,000. New York University considers
factors such as, but not limited to, the specific grant funding and the
terms of the research grant when extending an offer. The position has a
fully remote option for U.S.-based candidates (prefer Eastern or Central
time zones). To apply, please submit a cover letter, CV, and a list of 2–3
references via Interfolio: https://apply.interfolio.com/183906. Deadline:
April 30, 2026.
