The COMPARE Lab at Indiana University, directed by Dr. Erica Cartmill, invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship. The COMPARE Lab studies social cognition and communication in children, companion dogs, and zoo-housed great apes. The lab primarily studies communication and social cognition and uses a variety of methodological approaches: from behavioral coding of natural interaction to touch screen experiments to eye-tracking and thermal imaging.
This postdoctoral fellowship will focus on studies of children and/or dogs. The COMPARE lab has parallel testing facilities for children and companion dogs. The postdoctoral scholar should have experience in working with either children or dogs and will have the opportunity to conduct comparative studies if they are interested.
The position will be appointed as a one year contract with the possibility of renewal. The expected duration of the position is two years. We are still accepting applications and the start date is flexible.

The postdoctoral fellow will have the opportunity to connect with IU’s vibrant communities in child development, cognitive science, and animal behavior. They will also be invited to join an incoming cohort of postdoctoral fellows hired through the new Center for Possible Minds, which Dr. Cartmill co-directs.
