Join a pioneering research project from April through the summer that explores themes surrounding life's most challenging decisions across cultures. Collaborate with Professors Igor Grossmann and Thomas Hills using unique multinational data from the Wise Judgment Consortium<https://wiseminds.uwaterloo.ca/> to develop innovative multi-language Natural Language Processing (NLP) and large language model (LLM) approaches for classifying these complex themes.

Key Responsibilities:

  *   Design and implement NLP and LLM-driven methods to classify and analyze themes related to life's most challenging decisions.
  *   Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to shape research questions and methodologies, ensuring robust and reproducible findings.
  *   Process and interpret large, multinational datasets, drawing insights that contribute to a deeper understanding of decision-making under complex conditions.
  *   Prepare research findings for publication and presentations, contributing to academic and public discussions on the subject.

Employment Details:

  *   Contract: Short-term appointment (with potential for renewal) starting in April through the summer 2025.
  *   Location: Flexible – remote work available, with on-campus options at the University of Waterloo.
  *   Salary: negotiable based on experience.
Required Qualifications:

  *   Education: PhD in Social Sciences, Psychology, or a related computational field.
  *   Experience: Demonstrated expertise in computational social science and advanced NLP and/or LLM-driven data analysis techniques.
