Dear colleagues,
Glossa Psycholinguistics
<https://escholarship.org/uc/glossapsycholinguistics> is nearing its fifth
anniversary, and we're happy to report that it has been thriving thanks to
the community's support and involvement in our diamond open access
publishing enterprise.
At this moment, we’d like to share about a transition in the senior
editorial leadership, in accordance with the journal's constitution. We are
delighted to announce that as of January 1st, 2026, Florian Schwarz will
assume the role of co-Editor in Chief. Florian is a Professor of
Linguistics at the University of Pennsylvania, with a research focus in
semantics and pragmatics that combines theoretical and psycholinguistic
perspectives. He has made ground-breaking contributions to the study of
definiteness in natural language and the online processing of
presuppositions, and is one of the lead researchers behind the immensely
influential PCIbex online platform for experimental research, as well one
of the co-founders of the Experiments in Linguistic Meaning (ELM)
conference (hosted at Penn for the 4th time in June 2026).
Florian will join the senior editorial team along with current co-Editor in
Chief Brian Dillon. The outgoing Co-Editor in Chief Fernanda Ferreira will
continue to support the journal as a Production Editor, working alongside
Sandra Chung and the rest of our eScholarship publishing team.
Glossa Psycholinguistics sees itself, first and foremost, as a community
endeavor, and from its inception has planned on brisk, orderly transitions
of senior editorial roles in order to ensure that it keeps close contact
with a wide range of the psycholinguistics community. In its founding
documents, we implemented this through staggered (co-)editorial terms, to
balance the desire for innovation and fresh perspective with the benefits
of institutional stability. As such, we welcome inquiries and suggestions
from the community about getting involved with the journal at any level.
We're very excited about this new chapter in our growing journal's history.
We've got great new things to look forward to in 2026, and we're delighted
to benefit from Florian's leadership during this new phase.
Best,
Brian Dillon & Fernanda Fernanda
Co-Editors in Chief, Glossa Psycholinguistics
