The School of Psychology at the University of Sheffield invites
applications for a fully-funded PhD position in Psychology with Dr. Ruth
Corps and Prof. Danielle Matthews.

*Project title: *Investigating conversational difficulties across the
lifespan: Insights from psycholinguistics

The project will investigate the cognitive mechanisms of conversation
difficulties and their knock on effects in child or older-age populations
(depending on the candidate's interests which might include childhood
deafness, age related hearing loss or neurodiversity, for example). The
successful candidate will gain advanced training in the collection,
statistical analysis, and visualisation of behavioural data, alongside
experience working with either children or older adults. There will also be
opportunities to engage with local charities, schools, speech and language
therapists at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, and become involved in Patient
Public Involvement (PPI) groups to collaborate with those experiencing
conversational difficulty.

This 3.5 year fully-funded PhD studentship provides an exciting opportunity
for at the intersection of psychology and linguistics. The successful
candidate will receive training in all required methods, equipping them for
a career in psycholinguistics, cognitive development/ageing research and
its applications including intervention co-design.
