Dear colleagues,
We are inviting applications for multiple research engineer and/or postdoctoral positions (F/M) at Inria Paris, within the ALMAnaCH team. The positions are part of an ongoing project on social cognition in middle childhood, focusing on the neural correlates of social interaction and their impact on collaborative performance.
The project uses fNIRS ( functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS) hyperscanning techniques to better understand how children form and maintain social bonds, and how such bonds affect learning and brain development. The project, led by Justine Cassell, involves collecting and analyzing multimodal data (verbal and nonverbal behavior, inter-brain synchrony, task performance) using advanced statistical and machine learning methods.
Key responsibilities:
Help to design and manage fNIRS hyperscanning experiments with pairs of children and adults
Help to develop and manage tools for collection and alignment of multimodal data (e.g. with PsychoPy).
Analyze hyperscanning neuroimaging data (e.g. interbrain synchrony) and its relationship to behavioral data using contemporary techniques (including GLMM, Random Forests, LSTM, HyPyP, and more recent machine learning approaches).
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and contribute to writing up analyses for publication.
Required qualifications:
Background in neuroscience, cognitive science, linguistics, computer science, and/or related fields
Strong programming skills in Python
Experience with fNIRS, EEG, or other functional neuroimaging techniques
Advanced skills in machine learning and analysis of temporally-sensitive data
Preference given to candidates with hyperscanning experience
Ability to mentor younger scholars (PhD level or interns)
Proficiency in English, French is a plus
