IF: 4.89; SJR Q1

***** UPDATE: DEADLINE EXTENDED 1st SEPTEMBER 2023 *****

Journal Link: https://www.springer.com/journal/12559/updates/23979566

Deadline for manuscript submissions (EXTENDED): 1st September 2023.
Review and Publication on a rolling basis: reviews of submitted papers start as the papers are submitted.

Overview

The purpose of this special issue is to present the latest advancements and emerging topics in Cognitive Situation Awareness and Management (CSAM), with a focus on the cognitive processes (perceptual, reasoning, decision-making, behavioral, etc.) that enable autonomous, self-aware cyber-physical-social systems (CPSS) to characterize the overall situation, evaluate the situation in terms of its goals and do appropriate actions. CSAM research includes both cognitive processes inspired by human or animal models and artificial processes, as well as the creation of CSAM systems that truly team human agents with artificial ones.

This special issue also invites research contributions on many types of autonomous, semi-autonomous, and self-aware CPSS, from wearable medical devices to space systems, encouraging very different research approaches including, for example, human experimentation, mathematical modeling, agents modeling, artificial and computational intelligence, and classical control theory. This list is not exhaustive and other approaches, especially multidisciplinary ones, are welcome to be submitted to this special issue.

Topics:

The topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

· New methodologies, models, and technologies of Cognitive Situation Awareness and Management (CSAM) for Cyber-Physical-Social Systems (CPSS)

· Cognitive processes in autonomous and self-aware CPSS

· Human-, animal- and artificial-inspired cognitive approaches for CSAM

· Human-machine, human-robot, and human-autonomy interactions

· Emerging trends in Computational and Artificial Intelligence for Situation Awareness

· Situation-aware Internet of Things and Wearable Computing

· Situation-aware human-centered artificial intelligence

· Situation Awareness for Explainable AI

· Situational Big Data analysis

· Situation-aware resilient CPSS
