The Cognitive Science Program at Dartmouth College invites applications for
a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. We
seek a scholar working with computational methods or on computational
approaches to questions in cognitive science, broadly conceived. The
primary appointment will be in the Cognitive Science Program, with formal
connections to at least one other disciplinary department, such as Computer
Science, Linguistics, Psychological and Brain Sciences, depending on
research and teaching areas. Effective classroom teaching is essential for
this position.

Dartmouth College, a member of the Ivy League, is located in Hanover, New
Hampshire. The Cognitive Science Program is part of the Faculty of Arts and
Sciences, has an innovative curriculum and fosters collegial interaction
among faculty and students among multiple departments and across schools,
including the Thayer School of Engineering, Tuck School of Business, and
Geisel School of Medicine. Dartmouth has a strong focus on undergraduate
research, and our students are highly motivated and engaged with the
program's curriculum. The person in this position will be able to work with
and mentor young scholars crafting their unique interdisciplinary
intellectual journeys, and will have the opportunity to participate in
programs sponsored by the College's Office of Undergraduate Advising and
Research. We are especially interested in candidates who have a
demonstrated ability to contribute to Dartmouth’s diversity initiatives in
research, such as the Women in Science Program, E. E. Just STEM Scholars
Program, and the Academic Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (ASURE).

statement that addresses how their teaching, research, service, and/or life
experiences prepare them to advance Dartmouth’s commitments to diversity,
equity, and inclusion.

Qualified candidates should have a Ph.D in Cognitive Science or a closely
related field such as Linguistics, Neuroscience, or Computer Science (or be
ABD with degree received by the start date), a vibrant research program and

ability to teach cross-disciplinary cognitive science courses and
excitement about growing and developing our young and thriving Program in
Cognitive Science.
