20) Post-doc & summer interns, behavior modeling to optimize beam usage, SLAC, until filled

Post-doc is for 2 years from a start time this spring, located at the Stanford Linear
Accelerator Center (SLAC) in Menlo Park, CA.
https://accelerators.slac.stanford.edu/

Work will include some concepts in Machine learning, human learning, physics,
usual computing skills (python in particular), and human behavior studies
and human behavior modeling.

The task is to optimize current training time of synchroton and linear
accelerator (beam) usage, similar to optimizing flight training time.
Post-docs might be able to find Stanford housing.

Post-doc work will be similar to this announcement:

Salary is approximately $65k. Can start immediately.

Contact: Dr. Wan-Lin Hu,wanlinhu at stanford.edu

Application materials would be a CV and cover letter.

21) Post-doc, modeling situation awareness for design tools, PSU/CRA
http://acs.ist.psu.edu/

Post-doc is for 2 years from a start time this spring, located at Penn State/University Park. This will be a DARPA funded project and is done with and through Charles River Analytics. Travel to Boston, DC, and SF may be required.

Probabilistic Engine for Representing and Computing Enhanced Presentation Techniques for SA (PERCEPTS)

Predicting and quantifying the impact of system architectures and human-machine interface (HMI) designs on operator situation awareness (SA) early in the systems engineering process, and using these predictions to influence system trades and drive HMI design, will increase SA in normal and challenging or unanticipated situations. Current SA design and assessment methods require concrete HMI products and detailed system specifications, typically placing HMI decisions too late to impact critical system design decisions and address SA gaps. Our team will address this fundamental challenge by developing a Probabilistic Engine for Representing and Computing Enhanced Presentation Techniques for Situation Awareness (PERCEPTS).

Salary is approximately $65k. Can start in May 2022.
