Dear Cognitive Science Society,

Apology for cross-posting!

Hope all is well! I'm reaching out to share an update on this upcoming
workshop series entitled "Psychin'Out Redirection 2022". The mission of
this summer series is to normalize rejection, process setbacks, and build
each other up through a path of grit and resilience. We are hosting a
series of workshops to develop a strategic yet self-caring gap
year. Outside of presentations, we will also host a panel to discuss
alternative pathways to pursuing a career in mental health - because
Ph.D./Psy.D. isn't the only way!

Below is a detailed list of dates/times and workshop descriptions. Feel
free to share with your students as needed. If interested, they can sign up
via this link: *https://bit.ly/poredirection2022

sending out direct invitations with Zoom links for all those who have
signed up! :)

   - *RA job search and Networking*
      - Wed, June 22nd, 12 PM - 1:30 PM EST
      - This session covers ways to create your professional network and
the process behind finding a post-baccalaureate research
position. Content
will be geared towards folks who are interested in a research-related
      career in psychology and/or pursuing a Ph.D. in a
psychology-related field.
   - *Gap year planning*
      - Sat, June 25th, 1 PM - 2:30 PM EST
      - This session focuses on understanding and implementing concepts of
"strategic planning" as a framework for gap year planning. Participants
will learn how to develop timelines, identify ideal research
projects, and
build relevant skills during their gap year process, with a touch on
orientation and navigating changing personal and professional priorities.
   - *Resume/CV/Cover Letter*
      - Sat, July 2ND, 11 - 12:30 PM EST
      - This session discusses and reviews ways to best format and organize
your research and leadership experiences. Content and resources are
tailored for Ph.D. program applications with the goals of 1) writing
concise and effective experience statements and 2) understanding what to
keep and remove for job and Ph.D. applications.
   - *Lab Manager/RA 101*
      - Sat, July 9th, 1 PM - 2:30 PM EST
      - This session aims to share tips, tricks, and professional
development resources for new lab managers and full-time research
assistants (and other similar positions). Recognizing the differences
between undergraduate RA and full-time research personnel, we hope to
support researcher-in-training with resources and discussions on
      supervision and project management.
   - *Alternative Pathway to Mental Health Panel*
      - date and time TBD (but will be sent out to registered emails once
      solidified)
