The Department of Cognitive Science at Case Western Reserve University seeks candidates for a non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor position for the 2022-2023 academic year, starting August 2022. The teaching load is two courses per semester. The position is renewable for a second year.
We seek candidates in the cognitive sciences to contribute to teaching and research in the department and general education curriculum. Successful candidates should have the requisite knowledge and training to teach one or more of our required foundation courses, most important, Introduction to Cognitive Neuroscience. The department has programmatic interests in language and multimodal communication (including speech, gesture, second language learning, bilingualism, multimedia, and narrative), the use of data science to understand the human mind (including ethical considerations in the application of tools), the reciprocal shaping of cognition and institutions (e.g., money, law, religion), and how differences in experience (such as race, gender, culture, ideology) shape cognition. Successful candidates must have attained a PhD or equivalent before the fall start date of August 29, 2022.
Successful candidates may also have the opportunity to teach an elective course in their specialty. The successful candidates will be committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the Department and University.

Applicants should also arrange to have three letters of recommendation submitted via the application website by June 3, 2022. Other correspondence may be sent to Todd Oakley, Professor of Cognitive Science at todd.oakley at case.edu <mailto:todd.oakley at case.edu>.
