Teaching Track Position in Linguistics and Cognitive Science at Northwestern University

The Department of Linguistics and the Cognitive Science Program at Northwestern University invite applications for a full-time teaching-track position at the rank of assistant professor of instruction, with a start date of September 1, 2021. We are looking for candidates with an interdisciplinary background in the scientific study of language who are committed to building more diverse, equitable, and inclusive undergraduate programs. The teaching load for this teaching track faculty position is 6 courses per year on the quarter system to be distributed across course offerings and undergraduate-focused administrative assignments in Linguistics and Cognitive Science.

The assistant professor of instruction will join a vibrant interdisciplinary community of teacher-scholars from across the cognitive sciences (including communication sciences, computer science, learning sciences, linguistics, music cognition, neuroscience, philosophy, and psychology). Although the duties of this position focus on undergraduate instruction and advising, the assistant professor of instruction will have access to the research facilities of the Department of Linguistics.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Linguistics or a related field (e.g., Cognitive Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Computer Science, Philosophy, Psychology, Speech and Hearing Sciences) by the start date.
