Dear all,

Please find below the announcement for a postdoctoral position in my lab (https://apply.interfolio.com/77009 <https://apply.interfolio.com/77009>). Please feel free to reach out with questions!

The Lab for the Developing Mind (https://www.labdevelopingmind.com/, PI: Moira Dillon) in the Department of Psychology at New York University is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Associate to begin late summer 2020 to late fall 2020. Areas of investigation in the lab include mathematical cognition, spatial cognition, early emerging knowledge domains, symbolic and abstract thought and reasoning, and pictorial and mental imagery. The lab uses behavioral, computational, and field methodology and tests participants ranging in age from infants through adults.

This position is expected to focus on the cognitive foundations of human learning and use of formal geometry. The work integrates basic research and education in real-world learning contexts, aiming to advance the two in tandem. The Postdoctoral Associate will be expected to design and conduct studies with infants, children, and adults that aim to uncover the basic spatial intuitions humans rely on when confronted with difficult and novel geometry problems and that explore ways to develop pedagogies building on the these intuitions. Experiments will primarily take place in the lab and in the National Museum of Mathematics (MoMath). MoMath will also be a site for general dissemination of the project's findings. Through resources such as The Institute of Human Development and Social Change at NYU and interactions with the diverse city environment, New York University offers a rich intellectual community supporting research at the intersection of developmental psychology and STEM education.

Applicants should have completed a Ph.D. by November 15, 2020 in psychology, cognitive science, neuroscience, or education and have strong analytic, experimental, organizational, and written and oral communication skills.

Interested applicants should submit an application via Interfolio. Please submit a cover letter, a CV, a representative first-author publication, and contact information for three references. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled or until November 15, 2020. Applications submitted by August 1, 2020 will be prioritized. The position may begin as early as late summer 2020 and as late as late fall 2020.
