Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing on behalf of the Solway Lab at the University of
Maryland-College Park. We are recruiting a full-time postbac research
assistant/lab manager to start Summer/Fall 2020. Would it be possible to
post the below recruitment information in your announcements listserv?

Thank you,
Bingxin Song

The Solway Lab at the University of Maryland-College Park Department of
Psychology and Program in Neuroscience and Cognitive Science is hiring a
full-time postbac research assistant to start Summer/Fall 2020. For more,
see http://solwaylab.org. Primary responsibilities include running
behavioral, fMRI, and EEG experiments and programming new tasks.
Administrative tasks include helping prepare grant applications and
publications for submission, as well as performing whatever other
activities are necessary to keep the lab running smoothly. You will also
have the opportunity to be more directly involved in a research project and
data analysis, and learn how to ask and answer questions in our field. *The
ideal candidate is someone with some exposure to advanced research methods
in cognitive psychology/neuroscience and who is interested in learning more
about neuroimaging and computational approaches before applying to graduate
school.* This position requires:

    - Completion of a BA/BS degree.
    - Experience running participants in fMRI experiments (preferred but
not strictly required if you have other research experience).
    - Some programming experience (at least an introductory undergraduate
course, or the equivalent experience programming on your own). The precise
language is unimportant, as you will have the opportunity to learn several
here. We use R, JavaScript, Matlab, Python, and C++.
    - An interest in learning more about experimental and computational
approaches to cognitive neuroscience and psychiatry.
    - Preference will be given to individuals who can make a two year
commitment, although this is not strictly required.

There are also several additional characteristics that we look for, but are
by no means required – we’re in an interdisciplinary field, and no one
knows everything. However, you should have an interest in filling in gaps
in your knowledge as the need arises.

    - Some experience with FSL, SPM or another neuroimaging analysis
package.
    - Some experience with data analysis in R, formatting manuscripts in
LaTeX, and version control with Git or similar.
    - Some exposure to experimental and/or mathematical/computational
approaches to psychology/cognitive neuroscience/psychiatry.

To apply, e-mail your CV, a cover letter, and a list of references to
asolway at umd.edu. Be sure these documents address how your experience and
skill set meet the above requirements. In particular, describe any
programming classes you have taken and what programming experience you have
outside of class. Also describe your long term goals and how you think this
position will help you achieve them.
