The U.S. Army Research Laboratory (ARL) is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to perform collaborative research on visual perception in future displays. The position will be in New Brunswick, NJ at the Rutgers Center for Cognitive Science (RuCCS) in the laboratory of Dr. Jacob Feldman. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively and flourish as the center of a diverse, interdisciplinary team with colleagues at multiple Army sites.

Candidates should have, or be in the final stages of obtaining, a PhD in cognitive science, psychology, neuroscience, biomedical engineering, or a related field.

The research will focus on human perception, attentional processes, and interactions with technological complexity, building towards understanding implications for augmented reality displays overlaid on real world scenes. Ideal candidates should have a background in attention, visuospatial cognition, computational vision methods, and/or perception of complex visual scenes. Exposure to VR/AR technologies, current behavioral modeling approaches, and machine learning methods would be advantageous but is not a requirement.

RuCCS and ARL are committed to hiring a diverse workforce of world-class researchers and all eligible applicants are encouraged to apply. Due to the hiring mechanism we are only considering U.S. citizens for this position. Interested candidates should send a CV with full publication list to Jacob Feldman (jacob at ruccs.rutgers.edu), Gabriella Larkin (gabriella.b.larkin.civ at mail.mil), and Alfred Yu (alfred.b.yu.civ at mail.mil).
