*International Conference ‘New Trends in Translation and Technology’
(NeTTT’2020)*

*Rhodes Island, Greece, 28-30 September 2020*





*First announcement*



The forthcoming International Conference ‘New Trends in Translation and
Technology’ (NeTTT’2020) will take place on the island of Rhodes, Greece,
28-30 September 2020.



The objective of the conference is to bring together academics in
linguistics, translation studies, machine translation and natural language
processing, as well as developers, practitioners, language service
providers and vendors who work on or are interested in different aspects of
technology for translation. The conference will be a distinctive and
interdisciplinary event for discussing the latest developments and
practices in translation technology. NeTTT’2020 invites all professionals
who would like to learn about recent trends, present their latest work,
and/or share their experiences in the field. The conference will also be an
ideal place to establish business and research contacts, collaborations and
new ventures.

The conference will take the form of presentations (peer-reviewed research
and user presentations, keynote speeches), demos (demos from sponsors) and
posters; it will also feature panel discussions and tutorials/workshops.
The presentations will be published as open-access conference e-proceedings.



NeTTT’2020 will be preceded by a two-day summer school on Neural Machine
Translation.







*Conference topics*



Contributions are invited on any topic related to the latest technology
used in machine translation, translation, subtitling, localisation and
interpreting. These include but are not limited to:



·       - Machine Translation (MT) – any MT-related research activity, from
development to human factors

·       - CAT tools (Translation Memory (TM) systems, integration of
Machine Translation in TM systems)

·       - Quality assessment and quality control

·       - Speech Technology

·       - Terminology management

·       - Crowdsourcing

·       - Social media

·       - Translation Workflow and Management

·       - Localisation

·       - Technology adoption by translators and industry

·       - Training (to include university programmes on translation and
interpreting and training in the dynamically changing industry)

·       - New and emerging language and mobile technologies, tools and
resources which can support the work of translators, localisers, subtitlers
and interpreters

·       - Ethical issues in translation and technology





*Programme Committee*



The Programme Committee will be announced in the first Call for Papers
which can be expected in November 2019.

(The follow-up calls will provide information as to how submission can be
made.)



*Notification of acceptance:* 30 May 2020



*Camera-ready versions due:* 25 August 2020

NeTTT’2000 is organised by the Dimetra Academy for Translators, Greece;
Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting and
Department of Informatics, Ionian University, Greece; Adapt Centre, Dublin
City University, Ireland; Research Group in Computational Linguistics,
University of Wolverhampton, UK and the Association of Computational
Linguistics, Bulgaria.





*Conference Chairs*



Sheila Castilho (Dublin City University), Vilelmini Sosoni (Ionian
University), Maria Sgourou (Dimetra Academy for Translators, Greece) and
Ruslan Mitkov (University of Wolverhampton) are the NeTTT’2020 Chairs.
