Lab Coordinator, Department of Psychology, Boston College 

The Morality Lab at Boston College, led by Liane Young, is seeking a full-time Lab Coordinator, with a two-year commitment. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position has been filled, with the position starting as early as November 2019 and no later than May 2020. 

Graduate students and postdocs in the Morality Lab research diverse topics related to social and moral cognition. This currently includes but is not limited to: reasoning in moral thought and action, theory of mind across social and relational contexts (e.g., cooperation vs competition), social learning and prediction error, the function of punishment versus partner choice, and the tradeoff between principles of moral obligation and impartiality. Job responsibilities will include:
-Supporting the research of graduate students and postdocs - maintaining and developing lab software/analysis scripts (e.g., in Matlab, R, Javascript, Python), assisting in data collection and analysis (e.g., fMRI, TMS, online experiments), and assisting with manuscript editing and grant writing
- Managing undergraduate research assistants - recruiting, training, mentoring, and managing undergraduate students, during the academic year and summer 
-Handling administrative duties for the lab - managing finances, purchasing equipment, obtaining human subjects approval, recruiting and scheduling subjects, planning lab meetings and larger multi-lab grant-based events, maintaining documentation of lab practices, and updating lab and grant websites.
-Conducting original research - the lab coordinator will have the opportunity to design, conduct, publish, and present original research projects. 

This position is ideal for individuals interested in applying to graduate school in psychology, neuroscience, or an adjacent field. The lab coordinator will obtain valuable research experience, as a core member of a collaborative research group. All previous lab coordinators have published their work from the lab.  

Candidates should have a B.A./B.S. in psychology, neuroscience, cognitive science, computer science, or a related field. Candidates should also have prior research experience, strong quantitative skills, and knowledge of the statistical methods and experimental designs that are commonly used in behavioral and/or neuroimaging research. Candidates should be highly organized, independent and eager to learn new skills on their own, and able to work well with others, as effective and patient communicators. The ideal candidate will have prior experience with computer programming (e.g., in Matlab, R, Javascript, Python), though we will also consider applicants who can demonstrate a strong commitment to learning how to code.
