Applications are now being accepted for a post-doctoral fellowship working
on a DARPA-funded project investigating Explainable Artificial Intelligence
(XAI <https://www.darpa.mil/program/explainable-artificial-intelligence>).
The project uses behavioral, computational, and mathematical methods to
understand optimal selection of examples to explain inferences of machine
learning algorithms to human users by leveraging theories of social
learning.

The position is ideal for someone with strong research training,
statistical expertise, a strong research record, and a Ph.D. in cognitive
science, psychology, or computer science. Experience designing and
analyzing experiments on the internet (MTurk or similar) is required.
Interest in computational modeling would be valuable, but is not necessary.

*Responsibilities will include*: Designing new studies, data collection,
supervising data collection, data analysis, literature reviews, writing up
results for presentation and publication, and collaborative participation
with our research team.

*Materials*: Please submit a CV, cover letter with statement of research
interests, the names and contact information for 2 references, and
preprints/reprints of papers via email to patrick.shafto at gmail.com.

Desired start date is Summer 2019, but is flexible. The position is
renewable pending PI approval and continued availability of funds. Review
of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position
is filled.
