Sussex Leverhulme Doctoral Programme Day
The Predictive Brain: From Perception to Awareness

The Leverhulme Doctoral Scholarship Programme proudly presents the 1st Sussex Leverhulme Doctoral Programme Day, taking place 16th July 2019 at the University of Sussex.

The programme, directed by Professor Jamie Ward and Professor Anil Seth, funded by the Leverhulme Trust, brings together researchers and doctoral students from across neuroscience, philosophy, psychology, robotics, and the arts, with the goal of advancing our understanding of interactions between sensation, perception, as well as awareness in humans, animals, and machines.

This full-day event will gather speakers from around the UK, offering an excellent opportunity to take part of current research as well as present your own. This year's topic is "From Sensation and Perception to Awareness: The Role of Prediction".

This year's guest speakers include:

*          Dr Katerina Fotopoulou

*          Professor Andy Clark

*          Dr Rosalyn Moran

*          Dr Ryota Kanai
Call for abstracts
We hereby call for abstracts, inviting PhD students and postdoctoral researchers from all disciplines to present their work, in the form of a poster or oral presentation, in relation to this year's topic.

Poster presentation - All applicants are invited to present their work as a poster, which will be displayed throughout a dedicated poster session during the lunch break of the event.
Oral presentation - PhD students are invited to present their work through 15 minute talks (10 minutes talk and 5 minute for discussion).

Submission
All submissions must include:

*               Specification whether the abstract is for a poster or oral presentation

*               A clear and concise abstract in English of no more than 500 words

*               A title

*               A list of authors, including institution affiliation of each author, and one author presenting the abstract

*               A reference list
Please submit your abstract in PDF format to Dennis Larsson (D.Larsson at bsms.ac.uk<mailto:D.Larsson at bsms.ac.uk>). All abstracts must be submitted no later than 8pm on  31st of May.
Due to the limited number of talks and poster slots, all abstracts might not be accepted. Selection of abstract will be based on their quality and relevance to the theme.
