Recent news

(1) Upon multiple requests, we have decided to **extend** the deadline for submissions with one week. The new deadline is July 16, 2018.

(2) The location of the main INLG conference is known and exciting: it will be organized in the conference center of the Koning Willem II Stadion<https://www.willem-ii.nl/>, the home of the Tilburg soccer team. The conference will start on Monday afternoon (November 5), with the invited tutorial of Yoav Goldberg.

(3) The main conference will be preceded on Monday morning (November 5) by three workshops, and followed by two more workshop as well as a full day hackathon on Thursday (November 8), all organized at Tilburg University.  The list of workshops is:

Original Call for Papers

The 11th International Conference on Natural Language Generation (INLG 2018) will be held in Tilburg, The Netherlands, November 5-8, 2018. The conference takes place immediately after EMNLP 2018<http://emnlp2018.org/>, organised in nearby Brussels, Belgium.

INLG 2018 is organised by the Tilburg University Language Production (TULP)<https://tulp.uvt.nl/> research group, part of the Department of Communication and Cognition (DCC)<https://www.tilburguniversity.edu/about/schools/humanities/departments/dcc/> of the Tilburg School of Humanities and Digital Sciences (TSHD)<https://www.tilburguniversity.edu/about/schools/humanities/>  The event is organised under the auspices of the Special Interest Group on Natural Language Generation (SIGGEN)<https://aclweb.org/aclwiki/SIGGEN> of the Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL)<https://aclweb.org/aclwiki/Main_Page>. INLG 2018 is also endorsed by the International Speech Communication Association (ISCA)<https://www.isca-speech.org/iscaweb/index.php>.

We invite the submission of long and short papers, as well as system demonstrations, related to all aspects of Natural Language Generation (NLG), including data-to-text, concept-to-text, text-to-text and vision-to-text approaches. Accepted papers will be presented as oral talks or posters.

INLG 2018 solicits papers on any topic related to NLG. The conference will include two special tracks:

(1) Generating Text with Affect, Style and Personality (sponsored by The Netherlands Organization for Scienfitic Research, NWO<https://www.nwo.nl/>), and
(2) Conversational Interfaces, Chatbots and NLG (organised in collaboration with flow.ai<https://flow.ai/>).

Submissions & Format

Submissions should follow the new ACL Author Guidelines<https://www.aclweb.org/adminwiki/index.php?title=ACL_Author_Guidelines> and policies for submission, review and citation, and be anonymised for double blind reviewing. ACL 2018 offers both LaTeX style files<http://acl2018.org/call-for-papers/> and Microsoft Word templates<http://acl2018.org/call-for-papers/>  Papers should be submitted electronically through the START conference management system: https://www.softconf.com/i/inlg2018/.

Three kinds of papers can be submitted:

- Long papers are most appropriate for presenting substantial research results and must not exceed eight (8) pages of content, with up to two additional pages for references.

- Short papers are more appropriate for presenting an ongoing research effort and must not exceed four (4) pages, with up to one extra page for references.

- Demo papers should be no more than two (2) pages in length, including references, and should describe implemented systems which are of relevance to the NLG community. Authors of demo papers should be willing to present a demo of their system during INLG 2018.

All accepted papers will be published in the INLG 2018 proceedings and included in the ACL anthology. A paper accepted for presentation at INLG 2018 must not have been presented at any other meeting with publicly available proceedings. Dual submission to other conferences is permitted, provided that authors clearly indicate this in the "Acknowledgements" section of the paper when submitted. If the paper is accepted at both venues, the authors will need to choose which venue to present at, since they can not present the same paper twice.
