(2) The National Science Foundation’s Social, Behavioral, and Economic Sciences Directorate is developing a strategic plan and is continuing to seek ideas from scientific societies. In particular, SBE is asking societies to think about grand societal questions that our sciences can help address in the next decade.  Attached is the SBE Director’s powerpoint presentation from the recent FABBS Annual Meeting. The slides show two possible grand challenges and outline the rationale and key research questions for each. If you have ideas, please share them with NSF at mbeal at nsf.gov<mailto:mbeal at nsf.gov> (and cc: Paula Skedsvold at pskedsvold at fabbs.org<mailto:pskedsvold at fabbs.org>). Be sure to include the rationale and key research questions for each grand challenge.
