*Research Assistant *

*Brown University*

*Providence, Rhode Island*

The brand-new Brown Language and Thought Lab, directed by Dr. Roman Feiman,
is seeking a full-time Research Assistant to start in August, 2018. Review
of applications will begin immediately.

The lab will conduct research with adults, children, and infants,
investigating language comprehension, language acquisition, and conceptual
development. Because this is the inaugural year of the lab, the position
offers an opportunity to take an instrumental role in shaping a new
intellectual community, working closely with Dr. Feiman. The lab will be
embedded in a thriving broader research environment: the department of
Cognitive, Linguistic, and Psychological Sciences at Brown University,
which is a multidisciplinary community that takes complimentary approaches
to the study of mind, brain, behavior, and language. The ideal candidate
would be on the path to graduate study in these fields, be intellectually
engaged, highly organized, and eager to take on both the academic and
administrative challenges of getting a new lab started.

The Research Assistant's primary responsibilities will include managing and
leading research projects in the lab: designing studies, preparing stimuli,
recruiting and testing infants, children and adults, coding data, assisting
with data analysis, and participating in the preparation of research for
publication. On the administrative side, responsibilities will include
setting up and maintaining systems for data and resource management and
communication within the lab, training and overseeing undergraduate
assistants, coordinating the use of space, organizing meetings, and
assisting with grant management and IRB documentation.

*Qualifications:*

· Bachelor of Arts/Science in psychology, linguistics, cognitive
science, or related fields

· Prior experience working in a lab, working with children, and
managing others

· Strong organizational skills, attention to detail

· Proficiency with Word, Excel, Powerpoint

· Experience conducting independent research (e.g. an honors thesis
project, an independent study) is strongly preferred, but not required.

· Experience with eyetracking, and knowledge of R, Python, Amazon
Mechanical Turk (AMT), CHILDES and CLAN, E-Prime, Matlab, Filemaker, OSF,
and Slack, are all preferred but not required.
