Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N) seeks outstanding candidates for an open
faculty position in Computer Science. We seek applicants with exceptional
research programs focusing on computational methods in machine learning, or
mathematical modeling of complex data sets. Recruitment is at the Assistant
Professor level however, exceptional candidates qualifying for the
Associate Professor rank will be considered.

This recruitment is part of a longer term plan to build expertise in
interdisciplinary Computer Science. A new transdisciplinary research
Institute for Data Science, Learning, and Applications (I-DSLA) has been
established to support interdisciplinary computational research around
campus. Arts and Sciences is undertaking a multi-year effort to grow
interdisciplinary Computer Science by hiring Computer Science faculty whose
research complements areas of strength and opportunity, including but not
limited to Mathematics, Geosciences, Neuroscience, Natural Sciences, Social
Science, Cognitive Science, and Linguistics.

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computational
Statistics, or a related field and be capable of teaching courses in
Computer Science and Data Science. Early Assistant applicants should show
exceptional promise through outstanding publications and letters of
recommendation. Late Assistant and early Associate candidates should have a
record of excellent scholarship, as demonstrated by significant
publications and funding. Ideal candidates should be interested in
interdisciplinary collaborative research within the RU-N community and will
be expected to help build a group of faculty in Computer Science and Data
Science, maintain an active externally-funded research program, teach
undergraduate and graduate courses, and mentor Ph.D. students.

Please submit applications by November 1st, 2017 to ensure full
